According to a report by Triple-A, Turkiye ranks third in the world in cryptocurrency ownership after the United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
In 2024, Turkiye's cryptocurrency ownership was 19.3 percent. This is 25.3 per cent in the United Arab Emirates and 24.4 per cent in Singapore.
Argentina and Thailand came in 4th and 5th place with ownership ratios of 18.9% and 17.6%, respectively.
According to the report, 562 million people worldwide now own some form or variety of digital currency, up from 420 million in 2023 and 6.8 of the world's population. % own and use digital currencies, it added.
According to another report from Turkish trading platform Paribu, the most popular cryptocurrencies in Turkiye are Bitcoin and Ethereum.
According to Paribu's survey results, three out of four people in Japan use cryptocurrencies for short-term transactions, and seven out of ten people who trade in cryptocurrencies also trade in Bitcoin. Ethereum ranked second with 29%.
According to Paribu's Cryptocurrency Awareness and Awareness Survey, one in four people who trade cryptocurrencies in Turkiye started trading within the past six months.
According to the report, one-third of people who trade cryptocurrencies check their accounts at least once a day.
According to the Triple A report, 34 percent of the world's crypto holders are between the ages of 24 and 35, the highest percentage of any age group.
Asia led this surge, with the number of crypto owners increasing by 21.8 percent from 268.2 million to 326.8 million. North America followed suit, with ownership increasing from 52.1 million to 72.2 million.
Meanwhile, in South America, the number of cryptocurrency owners jumped from 25.5 million to 55.2 million, an astonishing 116.5% increase.
