Real Vision crypto analyst Jamie Coutts outlines the key trends the cryptocurrency industry is expected to witness in 2025.
Coutts says on social media platform X that the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector could grow four to five times with the entry of the traditional finance (TradFi) sector.
Given the massive growth, Coutts predicts that some DeFi protocols could outperform Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). He also sees the beginning of an intertwining between DeFi and TradFi next year.
“Big trends for 2025
1. TradFi starts to catch up – expect CEX (centralized exchange) acquisitions and more crypto integrations (Robinhood/Arbitrum)
2. Multiple CEXs are deposited and listed on TradFi exchanges.
3. Several CEXs are developing their own DEX platforms (L2s) or multichain integrations
4. RWA (Real-World Asset) are boosting sector valuations as the tokenization of financial assets increases (particularly equities and fixed income).
5. TradFi growth investors start adding crypto shells – the DeFi sector is a priority as they can be modeled on cash flows
6. The DeFi sector is rising 4x to 5x. Multiple protocols outperform ETH/SOL/BTC.”
