Smart contract deployments on the Cardano network have reached a major milestone this year, surpassing nearly 100,000 as blockchain gains traction.
Insights into the Cardano blockchain compiled the data from the Plutus-based smart contract deployer, which indicates the amount deployed by each software version. For comparison, Plutus is a smart contract platform on the Cardano network that allows developers to build decentralized applications that can interact with the blockchain.
Plutus V2 leads the smart contract mania
The second version of the Plutus programming language was the star of the show as it was responsible for the majority of smart contract adoption.
At the beginning of the year, there were only 8,083 Plutus V2 scripts on the blockchain. However, the total rose to 105,500 on December 29th, increasing by 97,417 smart contracts over the year.
Especially that one Plutus V2 The application went live on the Cardano network in September 2022 following the Vasil hard fork. The script expanded smart contract capabilities in the Cardano ecosystem and introduced features such as reference inputs, inline data, and reference scripts.
Meanwhile, the Plutus V1 also enjoyed great popularity. The first smart contract script added 573 smart contracts to the network, growing from 6,296 at the start of the year to 6,869 on December 27th.
In addition, the newly introduced programming software Plutus V3 also recorded significant usage in the short period of its existence. For comparison, the Cardano ecosystem introduced the third version of Plutus in preparation for September 1st Chang hard forkwhich introduced decentralized governance on the blockchain.
