South Korean game developer Wemade aims to build a bridge between gaming and blockchain by introducing new decentralized communities in 2025.
South Korean gaming giant Wemade apparently has big plans for 2025, focusing on new blockchain services and social communities. In an interview with Maeil Business Newspaper, Wemade CEO Park Kwan-ho called 2025 a potential “turning point” for the company, which aims to merge gaming and blockchain in a way that opens “new opportunities” in the global market.
Park again praised blockchain, saying its “transparency and inoperability of data” make the technology perfect for building trust in virtual services. “We will focus on building new social communities in areas where trust is needed by exploiting the inoperability of data,” he added.
Wemade has already launched Web3 platforms such as WeMixPlay, a blockchain-based gaming hub, and WePublic, which allows users to create and operate decentralized autonomous organizations. Park said the company now wants to make WeMixPlay a global destination for gamers and use WePublic to drive blockchain adoption. However, specific details about the features of these blockchain-based communities or a timeline for their launch remain unclear.
Wemade has been active in the blockchain space for some time. Back in late 2023, the Seongnam-based company partnered with Singapore-based Whampoa Digital to launch a $100 million Web3 fund focused on blockchain gaming projects, particularly in the Middle East.
