Paul Atkins, the top candidate to head the SEC under President-elect Donald Trump's incoming administration, is reportedly reluctant to take on the role.
According to a CoinDesk report on Tuesday, Atkins believes the SEC has been mismanaged under outgoing Chairman Gary Gensler and will need a tremendous amount of work to lead a turnaround. , says he doesn't find the role appealing.
Gary Gensler previously announced that he would be retiring from the agency on January 20th.
The Trump campaign has not yet provided an official update on whether Atkins will be selected to head the SEC, but FOX Business' Eleanor Terret reports that multiple key sources indicate Atkins is the front-runner. He pointed out that it was suggested.
