A top executive at digital asset manager CoinShares makes a big price prediction for Bitcoin (BTC).
In a new CNBC interview, James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, says Bitcoin could eventually reach $250,000, an increase of more than 166% from its current value.
At $250,000 per Bitcoin, the flagship crypto asset’s total market cap would be about 25% of gold’s market share, up from about 10% currently – something that Butterfill says is not “unreasonable.”
However, Butterfill says he does not expect Bitcoin to reach $250,000 this year.
says Butterfill,
“However, the timing of this is very difficult and I don’t expect this to happen in 2025, but it will go in that direction.”
Instead, Butterfill predicts that Bitcoin could correct to $80,000 and reach a high of $150,000 in 2025.
Butterfill warns that Bitcoin could suffer a sharp correction if pro-crypto US President-elect Donald Trump does not enact favorable Bitcoin policies, as many expect him to do soon after he takes office later this month becomes.
