Market commentator Ben Armstrong, better known as BitBoy, predicts that XRP could reverse Bitcoin’s dominance growth and explains how this could happen in a recent video.
While he doesn’t claim that XRP will surpass Bitcoin’s market cap in the near future, he is convinced believes that XRP will surpass Bitcoin in dominance during this bull run.
XRP vs. Ethereum: The race for second place
Armstrong first addressed the ongoing competition between XRP and Ethereum for second place in the cryptocurrency rankings.
While Ethereum held this position for many years, XRP briefly overtook it in 2018. Armstrong believes that XRP has a great chance of reclaiming this spot in this bull cycle.
According to him, XRP is positioning itself as a major player in the global financial system, with alleged appeal for both BRICS countries and Western powers such as the IMF.
He goes on to say that while Ethereum continues to see adoption among corporate and institutional investors, regular retail investors may shy away due to Ethereum’s slow transaction speeds, especially compared to faster blockchains like Solana.
Still, Armstrong noted that institutions that do not require instant transactions will continue to favor Ethereum due to its stability and role in decentralized finance (DeFi).
XRP challenges Bitcoin after Ethereum
Armstrong is convinced of this XRP can outperform Ethereum in market cap during this bull run. However, he admits that it is not a guarantee. While Ethereum will remain an institutional investment vehicle, XRP expects rapid growth due to its attractiveness as a bridge currency in the global financial system.
