Ubisoft's recently released NFT-based RPG is reportedly affected by what appears to be a game-breaking exploit.
The game was released on PC last week and lets players form groups of three characters to battle enemies in turn-based combat. A Web3 feature of the game is that each of these characters essentially functions as an NFT and can be purchased in-game or with cryptocurrency.
As X user Jauwnio pointed out, players of the company's “Web3 competitive turn-based RPG” Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles are reporting that the game is impossible to play.
The reason is that there is usually one user whose name is Schilleri11 or Paulstar111, and this user seems to automatically win every online battle.
On the game's Discord server, players are complaining that every time they start a competitive game online, they are matched with this player and automatically lose without even having a match.
One player pointed out that the Paulstar111 account has over 56,000 games played and is at the top of the rankings. It is still not clear how players were able to connect to so many games and win automatically.

“It's ridiculous that a company in late 2024 is making the game unplayable for days because one guy ruined it,” Discord user Ketaros wrote. “I’m sorry, but the level of incompetence here is astonishing.
“Last time I saw Paulstar111 in the rankings, he had 56,000 matches. There are 10 of us here complaining, but now imagine what everyone else is doing. please [thousands of] Players who tried the game probably won't come back because the game is unplayable. ”
A moderator on the game's Discord server posted on Saturday that the team is aware of the error, has banned the player, and hopes to have a fix ready by the end of the day. However, some players continue to report that matches are still being made to their player accounts.
