Next Trust, a blockchain-focused startup, has launched an innovative platform designed to ensure fairness and transparency in voting for casting programs. The platform, known as MyStappik, uses blockchain technology to address issues of election manipulation, an issue that has previously undermined public trust in such contests.
The company was founded in 2019 by Lee Min-jae, a former international fund manager. Lee explained that his exposure to blockchain technology throughout his financial career inspired him to develop a service that could have a tangible impact on the public. He noted that as audition programs became more popular, the need for reliable, real-time voting systems became more important, but existing methods were fraught with vulnerabilities and fraudulent practices.
Dealing with the legacy of election scandals
The concept for Next Trust gained traction following a major controversy surrounding manipulation of voting results on a popular casting program. The scandal involving the producers of Mnet’s Produce series revealed how voting results were changed to predict winners and losers. This manipulation led to significant legal consequences for those involved and highlighted systemic deficiencies in the existing voting mechanisms.
Traditional systems have been criticized for their vulnerability to hacking and errors, as well as delays in compiling results. MyStappik seeks to overcome these issues by leveraging the core attributes of blockchain, namely transparency and security.
