According to federal prosecutors, an employee of Oklahoma-based BOK Financial Securities withdrew millions of dollars directly from customer accounts.
William Shane Garrow — who was senior vice president and private banker at BOK until his firing earlier this year — is accused of embezzling $4,277,227 from at least 16 client accounts and funneling the funds to himself, FOX23 reports.
Garrow, who was hired in 2007, allegedly began committing the crimes on September 9, 2012 and continued until April 10, 2024.
He is accused of withdrawing cash from customer accounts without their knowledge and transferring the funds to accounts he controlled at other financial institutions.
He is also accused of issuing forged bank checks from customer accounts and paying them out to himself.
If a customer noticed any discrepancies, Garrow simply told them there was an error and that BOK would correct it. An affidavit seen by FOX23 states:
“[Garrow] knowingly carried out and attempted to carry out a plan to defraud a financial institution and obtain funds, funds, loans, assets and other property of a financial institution.
